STOK Group completes acquisition of BEWI Food, creating one of Europe’s leading packaging solutions providers

Stok Group is pleased to announce the successful completion of its acquisition of BEWI Food following a strategic carve out of BEWI’s trading packaging business, creating one of Northern Europe’s leading packaging solutions providers.

BEWI Food represents a highly synergistic and value accretive addition to the Stok business, positioning the combined group as the fastest growing packaging solutions provider across the Nordics and Iceland. The acquisition of BEWI Food aligns with STOK's overall strategy, supported by its private equity owner, to pursue opportunities in new and existing markets, to strengthen its service offering and accelerate international growth.

Commenting on the completion of the acquisition, Martin Frederiksen, CEO of STOK said, “The acquisition of BEWI Food positions our combined business as the region’s go-to partner for packaging solutions and greatly accelerates our exciting growth trajectory of becoming an internationally leading packaging solutions provider.”

With a strong and highly reputable positioning within the food packaging industry, including a sophisticated and highly specialised seafood offering, BEWI Food serves a loyal and long-standing customer base through strategically located warehouses across Norway and Iceland where it provides high quality, technically advanced and sustainable packaging solutions tailored to customers’ requirements.

With combined sales of almost EUR 200 million, the newly integrated and expanded business will now look to execute a clear growth strategy that reinforces its leadership positioning across its core markets of Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Greenland by leveraging the expertise, manufacturing capabilities, product portfolio, and route-to-market infrastructure of the combined group.

The integration of BEWI Food into Stok Group will afford customer access to STOK’s broader portfolio of over 3,000 packaging product solutions, delivering significantly greater optionality and accessibility to customers in Norway and Iceland in particular. As a specialist in machine solutions, the expanded Group will also provide dedicated technology enabled testing facilities to enhance the safety and efficiency of packaging distribution for customers.

Further to its existing food approved warehouse solution in Norway, the business has advanced plans to open additional food and safety certified warehousing facilities in the region where it will offer end-to-end solutions to all segments of the market, from specialist food to eCommerce.

“This acquisition significantly strengthens both the offering we provide to existing customers and our proposition to prospective customers. We now look forward to building on this momentum by continuing to invest heavily in product innovation, including sustainable solutions, under the guidance of our expert advisory function who work closely with our customers to deliver market defining offerings”, Frederiksen added.
